The WNC is holding their second annual fair at Overland Elementary. This is a great place to learn how best to prepare for an earthquake. Big shout out to Jeff Hronek and Cynthia Saffir for heading the safety fair team! See you there!!

There is a very cool business on Pico that focuses on wellness and creativity. Julie the owner wants to let the neighborhood see what she is all about ...so she is planning an open house on September 15th. Yoga, Mindfulness, Art, Dance writing and more....and FREE! Support this new business on Pico!
Attached is the agenda for the September Meeting. Held in Community Room B near Landmark Theaters 3rd Floor .
So we are overdue for our annual meeting which is scheduled for next Sunday, April 7th from 3-5pm. Location is 2268 Overland Ave. I apologize for having to change our meeting date a few times this spring.
Many of the issues we need to discuss can be done by email, but we also need to gather once a year in person to discuss our neighborhood and topics that are important to all of us.
Plus...we are a fun and friendly group so getting together is certainly not a chore..and we are lucky this time as OAC member Spencer is making brisket! It is also national beer day so I will be sure to honor that as well. If anyone is in the mood to cook or bake..let me know...as it is always nice to have some good eats on the table.
I know we all have a lot going on in our lives..but this is important and I need you to carve out 2 hours for this, listen to our speakers and add to the conversation. As a group we will also be talking about funding projects and upcoming events
Don't forget your whopping $5 dues!!
Lastly, if your neighbor is not a member of OAC...ask them to come...we are small but mighty and welcome all points of view and open to suggestions and comments.
The speakers who are coming are giving up their Sunday for us...so please come in good spirits ready to engage!
I look forward to seeing all of you! I will send a final agenda to you all by Wednesday.

Seat 17 At Large
JOANNE DORFMAN
I am the incumbent candidate of seat #17 on the WNC. I’m a 23 year resident of Los Angeles, married with one daughter. I’ve been involved with the WNC since its inception. I am the VP of WOWHOA, and the Riddick Youth Center. I work for the non-profit rescue Stray Cat Alliance as assistant store manager for their thrift shop on Westwood Blvd. I also make and sell my own jewelry. I was VP of the Overland PTA, a key member of the Overland School library renovation, and Wonder of Reading program. For 8 years I was a Girl Scout troop leader.
I have been an apartment renter, and now homeowner. I understand issues regarding housing security as a renter, and issues of home ownership. I have experience interacting with all people of the neighborhood to represent them well. Vote for me, and I will work hard for you.
VLADAMIER VONJNOVIC
I have been living and working in the Westside neighborhood area for nearly 7 years. At work, I oversee teams that focus on innovation, new product development and process improvements for a multi-national investment management company. For me, involvement in my community is critical and as such at work, I co-chair an employee resource group with 650+ members focused on LGBTQ+ community. I also oversee the office’s corporate work study program that partners employees with high school students from South LA that prepares them not only for college but also for future careers. For the 4 past years, I have also been on the board as a secretary/treasurer of a 48 unit homeowners’ association where I focused on budgeting, resident relations and greater transparency. If given an opportunity, I’d like to broaden my engagement and tackle our community’s needs of homelessness and traffic.

WNC Selection agenda 3-14-19 (pdf)
DownloadSo as you all may know, the tree in my parkway has been dying... a slow and agonizing death actually. I called it in on February 1st to see if I could get the City to cut it down and not have to pay. Inspectors came on Feb 13th and left orange cones and today the crew came to cut it down, So..there you have it...a small City success story. Since they are rare... thought I would share.
There will be an election for a new board of officers for the WNC on March 14th. Residential and business seats are available. Running for a seat is super easy...below is the link for more information and the candidate filing form. Deadline to file is Feb 12th
The WNC meets the 2nd Thursday of each month (except Dec) at 7pm at the Westside Pavilion. If elected, you would be responsible to represent your area as a resident or business owner/employee at the meetings. Each seat has an alternate so if you cannot attend your alternate would be in your place. I can tell you first hand that holding a seat on the board is very rewarding and you get to develop a real connection with City Hall and our elected officials. You can help improve our community with the funding provided to the WNC every year and create real change ...Pick Pico, Plant Pico, Pico Streetscape Plan are examples of ideas that have been championed by the WNC. The WNC helps local schools, non profits churches police and fire...and the board is comprised of folks who want to try and help our community thrive...so please check out the link and think about it!
Google signed a lease agreement with Hudson Pacific Properties to occupy space at the former Westside Pavilion. The mall should close the end of February.
We know this will have an impact on our area, especially during construction.
Google’s main campus will still remain in Playa. This will be another office location.
